Legacy Bricks Installed at Plaza Fountain Honoring Don Diego Scholars
Dozens of bricks featuring the names of the most recent Don Diego Scholarship recipients were installed this week alongside the Plaza de Mexico fountain at the Del Mar Fairgrounds. They join bricks customized by donors to commemorate people and memories associated with the Del Mar Fairgrounds, as well as bricks featuring past years’ Don Diego Scholarship recipients. To date, the Don Diego Scholarship Foundation has aided 279 students with college expenses with a total of $1,116,500 in scholarships awarded since its inception in 1986.
The Don Diego Scholarship Foundation began the Legacy Brick program as a fundraiser for the annual scholarship program. Bricks are offered in two sizes and colors, can feature up to three lines of text, and can be embellished with your choice of artwork ranging from Ferris wheels to hearts to horses. Prices begin at $150 per brick.
The Don Diego Scholarship Foundation is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization that provides scholarships for outstanding high school seniors and graduates who participate in activities and events at the Del Mar Fairgrounds, including the San Diego County Fair. The Foundation is currently accepting scholarship applications for the 2021 program; the deadline for consideration is March 29, 2021.
